Types of Braces Available Today

Any setbacks on the dentition can cost you that beautiful smile you’ve always treasured. To salvage the situation, we have been guiding patients on the best types of braces for use. Below is a brief description of some of the different types of braces.

Traditional Braces

The exodus of braces started off from the invention of metal braces. They are composed of a bendable archwire made of high stained steel threaded on the teeth. After wearing them for some period, the misaligned teeth are redirected back into the desired position. Apart from aligning teeth, metal braces can be used for overbite and underbite correction.

Ceramic Braces

As the name suggests, these braces are made of ceramic material which camouflages the patient’s teeth. We match the ceramic braces with the color of the teeth. This makes it virtually impossible to notice. Subsequently, ceramic braces are often worn on the upper teeth. When it comes to the preferred target group, this type is mostly worn by older teenagers and adults.

Invisalign® and Clear aligners

In the current market, these are the most sought-after braces. So, why are they in high demand? Firstly, Invisalign® aligners are custom-made, which makes them comfortable to wear. Patients can easily wear them unnoticed due to their clear nature. The clear aligners are removable, making it easy to eat food and floss your teeth.

Lingual Braces

As for this type, the architecture is a bit different from others. The design is made to be worn by the patient only on the inside of the teeth.
