Accelerated Orthodontics for Straighter Teeth in Less Time

Everyone wants to have a million-dollar smile. With so many options, it’s difficult to pick which treatment would be most beneficial and produce results in a timely manner. Proper orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth can’t be rushed, but it can be accelerated thanks to accelerated orthodontics. Patients considering an accelerated treatment plan should know the benefits of this process before deciding if it’s right for them.

What is Accelerated Orthodontics?

Patients typically have traditional braces on for two to three years. With accelerated orthodontics, patients will see complete results much sooner! The timeframe is decreased considerably due to a device the patient wears. The device releases vibrations to encourage teeth movement.

As of now, there isn’t a lot of research done on this type of orthodontics, so its long-term effectiveness isn’t completely known yet. However, research has shown that as long as the orthodontist’s instructions are followed closely and the patient continues to have orthodontist visits, and then an accelerated procedure is just as effective as a traditional one.

The Benefits of Accelerated Orthodontics

The biggest benefit to accelerated orthodontics is patients have braces for less than a year. This is especially beneficial for adults who don’t want to spend a couple of years with metal in their mouth or teenagers who want near-instant results.

However, accelerated orthodontics can use any type of braces. Metal braces are available, but they aren’t the only option. Ceramic and lingual (placed behind the teeth) braces are perfectly good alternatives.

Patients of all ages will benefit from accelerated orthodontics. Whether they’re trying to have their braces off before school pictures or some other highly photographed life event, they’ll see straight teeth in just a few months. As long as the patient is willing to devote the time to attend frequent in-office adjustments of their braces, this procedure could be the perfect fit for them.
